I have two tickets to give away to one lucky person to the Winelands Chocolate Festival 2016. The second Winelands Chocolate Festival takes place at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate in Stellenbosch on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of August 2016.
Some exhibitors to look out for include:
Afrikoa
Afrikoa bean-to-bar chocolate company is the first to source their beans directly from African farmers. There’s something for everyone as Afrikoa’s authentic and fragrant dark chocolate bars range from sweet to bitter.
Von Geusau
These fine artisanal chocolates and truffles are meticulously handmade using roasted nuts, exotic liqueurs and fresh cream. Von Geusau’s chocolate range includes Chocolate Truffles, Chocolate Bouches and, our favourite, Maraschino cherry wedges.
Kaapse Liqueurs
Using a novel take on chocolate, local fynbos liqueurs are served by Kaapse Liqueurs in a delicate chocolate cup. These liqueurs aren’t only locally produced but they are also healthy because they also contain no additives or preservatives. Try the Kaapse Honeybush, Buchu Infused Limoncello or Pittekou (granadilla) and become a fan.
Moro Gelato
Another ‘healthy’ option comes from Moro gelato, which makes their gelato using fresh milk, cream and seasonal fruit. They also offer sorbets as an alternative for those not wanting dairy products. The gelato is true to its Ligurian heritage and is made exactly as Nonna Moro used to make her daily batches of gelati, many moons ago. This is by far my favourite gelato in South Africa!
