Dave and I were recently invited to have supper at the newly revamped Col’Cacchio in Stellenbosch. We had been before for a meal and the first thing Dave mentioned when we walked up was the bad service we had the last time we were there.
Col’Cacchio
Having recently revamped it was great to see a more open layout with a wonderful al fresco dining area. The hostess had reserved a small pokey table for us, behind the television in a dark corner. We asked to be moved and no sooner had we sat down than our waiter was at the table to offer us something to drink.
Service
Our waiter was very attentive and I was pleased at how good the service was on this visit. We received wonderful attention from the manager who at first thought we had not pitched up as our table was standing empty. He explained that Col’Cacchio has also rebranded and have launched a new menu which includes pasta.
Our meal
We started with an antipasti of piatto di salumi (R120) which included really good olives, salami and an excellent proscuitto crudo. Despite there being pasta on the menu, we went with pizza. This to me is a great test of an Italian trattoria. I had the ortigiano (R120) and asked them to leave off the green peppers. Our waiter suggested adding avocado which was perfect as it is one of my favourite toppings. Dave had the stagionata (R125) and we were both very happy with the amazing thin and crispy crust. We enjoyed a bottle of Leopard’s Leap Shiraz 2015 with our meal. I did not think I would have space for dessert but was convinced to have the tiramisu (R55). Dave had a single espresso to end.
My suggestion
Stellenbosch is a popular dining area and I would suggest you park at Eikestad Mall. It is a short walk to Col’Cacchio through the vibrant and buzzing streets.

Disclosure: Dave and I were guests of Col’Cacchio Stellenbosch and our meal was on the house. We left a gratuity for the waiter as is our norm when dining out. This post is in line with my blogging policy.

Sounds like it has improved! I always ask for a different table if they try and seat us at a poky one.
I found that very strange to seat us in a pokey corner. And I also always ask to be sat in good light and away from the door.
Nice to see they have rebranded, sounds like they have made some big improvements.
The service being the most important of all 🙂
You always go to all the coolest places!!!! <3 – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com

The service at Col’Cacchio sounds great & I love the interior design. Looks like a lovely place!
The service was excellent on the night we went 🙂
This sounds lovely for a lunch stop, Tandy. My boys love pizza.
This is a perfect stop for you then as they even do mixed topping pizza options 🙂
