Gordons Bay is a small fishing village. situated 65 km outside of Cape Town. We do not have a bank, a secondary school or a movie theatre. We do however have a Spar, and this is a convenient place for me to do my shopping. Spar have recently launched their Freshline range of products and I was given R200 to spend towards promoting this range. I decided to buy a lot of soups, but I could have purchased bakery items, salads or vegetables as well. The soups seemed to be the best option for me as I can freeze them and take one out each morning for work lunches when I know I am going to be in the office. And, if Dave is nice to me, he can even get to share my lunch.
Spar’s Freshline range of foods are convenient and all products can be traced from soil to store. The bakery products are baked the same way you would at home. Spar have also given me a R300 gift card voucher which you can win! All you have to do is leave me a comment and tell me what you would add to your Freshline soup for a lunchtime treat. Bonus entries will be counted if you leave a comment with the answer, on my facebook page or you tweet me your response. The winner will be decided by random draw and my decision is final. This competition is only open to South African residents and closes at midnight on the 19th of October (South African time).
disclosure: I was given R200 in vouchers to spend on myself and a R300 voucher to give away in exchange for running this competition. This post is in line with my blogging policy.

Hi Tandy, I love Spar!
I have also found their Freshline range and love the packaging and the flavours on offer.
I think with some divine Butternut soup I would have one of the gorgeous chunky breads or ciabatta’s that the Spar bakery offer.
xx
that sounds really good! Good luck for the draw 🙂
Seems Gordon’s Bay and Sundays River have lots in common, although I think our village is substantially smaller. Thankfully we also have a Spar.
This is a fantastic prize Tandy. I love the packaging of the Freshline products. I would add some hot buttered toast to dunk into my soup.
Have a super weekend.
🙂 Mandy
our village has grown a lot in the last 10 years! Good luck for the draw and hope you had a good weekend 🙂
If you want your products to be fresh, then you have to go to your Spar, I would just have a slice of toast with my soup because the taste is just so divine!!
Thank you for your entry and good luck with the draw 🙂
It’s rare when a supermarket carries such high quality pre-made food! Good stuff. 🙂
The soups are excellent which is a great thing for me as I am too busy at lunch time to make anything 🙂
Spar have really upped their game over recent times, there’s one conveniently close to my home and I find I seldom have to go anywhere else for what I need.
That is great to hear Cindy – good luck with the draw 🙂
I think a crumble of feta, but mostly some hot buttery toast! 🙂
The feta sounds great! Good luck with the draw 🙂
I love your new header.
Thanks Tok 🙂
Here in the UK – as you will know, Tandy- Spar are just tiny corner stores which stay open after all the supermarkets have shut! These soups look yummy…
Your Spar’s are nothing like ours – ours are more like Tesco’s 🙂
Spar have definitely upped their ante….they have some fab products and their freshline range is great. I love to add a dollop of rosemary pesto to the minestrone and enjoy it with some of their fab ciabbata which I make into thin crispy garlic herb crouton slices that I can manage to crumble into the soup and eat at this stage of my oral reconstructive journey. I also love the spicy tomato soup and thoroughly enjoy it with a spoonful of Basil Pesto and creme fraiche added to it. Mmmmmmm hungry now! Fabulous prize Tandy xx
It is a wonderful prize, and your suggestions are fantastic 🙂
I would definitely add some croutons!!
It was lovely seeing you again on Thursday!! Have a great weekend!
It was lovely seeing you too!
How terrific that all of their products can be tracked soil to store.
I love that aspect!
We also have a Spar. I love the spar but the meat isn’t that good, over here in Mechelen.
The chicken at our Spar’s is very good 🙂
What I love about spar is their bakery, you always get fresh malva pudding and all sorts of muffins. The fresh line soup I tried their minestrone it was delicious.
I shall take that one out for lunch for tomorrow then 🙂 Good luck in the draw!
Spar is where I shop in our local town too, so a voucher would be very welcome. The dilemma would be whether to splurge on luxuries like Nomu cocoa or follow your sensible soup suggestion.
In my case, Nomu would win! Good luck 🙂
