I made my gin cocktail with the grenadine syrup I had made, as well as freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. You can use store bought grenadine if you choose to.

I used to be a hand bag person. I would have different bags for different outfits. And separate bags for daytime and night time. I am not sure what changed but about 15 years ago I got rid of all my handbags except for 2. I kept one daytime bag and my small, over the shoulder ‘going out’ bag. That in itself is quite funny as I never take a bag with me when we go out. I bought this particular bag when I was in Sydney. It was just the right size for a small wallet, a pack of cigarettes and house keys. Now when we go out I don’t pay and Dave has the keys. I also no longer smoke having given up when I moved here. When we started travelling I bought a small bag to take our passports and cash.

On one trip the strap broke and it was a good thing it happened at the airport while I was in the bathroom. If it had happened anywhere else I would have lost the bag with all its contents. This meant I had to buy a new bag and I gave it a lot of thought so that I would spend my money wisely. I decided on one that goes over my shoulder and sits in front of my body. This means that while navigating through the airport and when dragging my suitcases around the place I don’t have to worry about using a hand for the bag. I chose a Cellini bag knowing the quality is good enough to last. It is big enough for our passports, some cash, my wallet, a pen, my iPad and phone. It is also comfortable which is a necessity. What do you consider a necessity when buying a bag?

Hi Tandy, your gin cocktail looks delicious, love the color. I use a baggallini bag, which is great for traveling, since we hike alot we can stop just about anywhere and I can hike with the purse and our phones and it equip.
that is the best type of bag to have!
My husband is a gin drinker and I’m sure would find this cocktail to be a very pleasant one for summer.
It is very refreshing 🙂
Great cocktail, I love gin. I used ot have more bags but now I use only one all the time and I only get very small backpack purses.
I used to get backpack bags but we have too much crime here!
Ahhh…gin…now you’re talking lol. I’m the same with handbags Tandy. I used to have so many now I only use a few high quality ones. I like bigger bags.
My regular handbag is also high quality but not too big.
I did not buy a bag for years. Just like you, I got rid of all of mine few years ago and kept only a big one out of a soft fabric, which I can take everywhere and pack everything in. Good luck with your search! The cocktail is definitely to try 😀
Marta, I just found this comment in my spam. Hope I haven’t missed any others?
I hope so as well 🙂
this one came through!
I love the Longchamp Le Pliage bag with the long strap. It’s super light. I used to have a Marc Jacobs Stam before that and it was so heavy I swear I walked lopsided!
I wonder why companies make heavy hand bags?
So much in love with the color of this gin cocktail. And I love the idea of using grenadine syrup.
I liked the colour as well 🙂
I do like this post, Tandy. I like a fairly large bag as I always end up with both my sons cell phones and Terence’s cell phone and wallet plus I always carry a scribbling book for writing in.
The joys of being a wife and mother 😉
I like lots of internal pockets. These days (and for many years), I have used a satchel that goes across my body. My first one was getting very worn so I bought a new one, which I love but the leather is too heavy and gives me neck strain. So back to the old bag for now. As for the Gin Cocktail, well it’s hard to go wrong! For some odd reason, this was in my spam so I’m glad I check it.
Glad you checked it as well! I think leather in itself is too heavy for a carry around all day bag 🙂
My very favorite bag is my Coach bucket bag in orange. I’ve carried it almost every day for the last 5 years. Purchased it before I left to visit SAF! It goes over my shoulder and under my arm and holds my camera and has a zipper and is just perfect. My problem is I need a new one and Coach isn’t making them anymore. Dying! And I’m dying for this cocktail, too!
I hope you find a decent replacement Abbe 🙂
