I can highly recommend returning from an overseas trip the day before a public holiday. Dave and I could sleep in on the 1st of May 2024, allowing us to fully recover from being up until the early hours of the previous morning. The rest of the month was full of routine. And we ended it with voting in our elections which hopefully will bring some change.
Recipes shared in May 2024
I am still sharing recipes I made my way through in December! On our Christmas table were lamb koftas and a sourdough wreath. After many, many attempts I am finally happy with my beetroot and feta tart. Hannah enjoyed mango popsicles, and friends devoured my bitter chocolate brownies. I made marshmallow fluff and chestnut chocolate ganache, and used smore biscuits to sandwich it all together.
What came back from Italy
When we were in Umbria the first time I came home with truffles. This time I decided to bring back pesto with truffles (which was Dave’s choice), and the carciofi with truffles. Dave and I both love artichoke hearts and you can really smell the truffles when you open the bottles. I also came back with 4 slabs of chocolate. Pistacchio for Dave, raspberries for me and the new Lindt Wafer for us to share. I had bought two as usually we have a block of chocolate every night, and one was for while we were on holiday. But this trip we ended every meal with a lot of cheese instead. The zuppa toscana was my small purchase from the day we spent in Tuscany.
This is my June submission to the #IMK series hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens.
I was interviewed on Delivery Rank and you can read the interview here. I can only hang my head in shame that I have not updated my about me information. As you might know, I am already in my lovely large kitchen, and out of the cottage.

Love your holiday haul!
Thank you!
How lovely to have been for a vacation in Italy. I’m sure you the pesto and carciofi should taste amazing. You will really enjoy all of the wonderful purchases from over there. I don’t eat much chocolate, but when I do I love it. I cook with it quite a bit. Have a good month Tandy.
Thank you! And I wish I could be in Italy right now as the weather is dismal here 🙂
Nice interview Tandy. I’m sure the two jars with truffles as an ingredient will be great.
Thanks for taking the time to read it 🙂
Tandy, glad you enjoyed your vacation in Italy. How long does it take you to fly there? The goodies you brought home look delicious and I’m sure you will be enjoying the pesto and carciofi to enhance your meals. My husband loves lamb kofta and I enjoyed reading your interview. Have a good week.
Hi, there are no direct flights to Italy, so the time it takes to get there depends on the airline we use. Usually with layovers it takes about 16 hours. Thanks for reading my interview 🙂
Good selection of souvenir foods!
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you Mae 🙂
Love the pistachio chocolate. Pistachio seems to be in the zeitgeist lately doesn’t it? 🙂 Never been a truffle fan probably because I’ve only had truffle oil, which is always old and dusty. I am putting up blog posts from dishes i made months ago. I really must get on with it – heheheh. Thanks for joining in. have a great month. cheers sherry
Dave loves anything pistachio!
Those mango popsicles = delicious
I visited you via Sherry Pickings. My entry this month is #12.
Thanks Esme, and I will pop in to see your post shortly 🙂
Love your chocolate haul! Why does that soup packet have a frowny face on it, I wonder? Also, is the candle in your sourdough wreath made of butter? I’ve always wanted to try making that. Have a great month!
The frowny face is there logo (and the look on people’s faces when they get duped by the pricing!). The candle was made from ghee which was spiced 🙂
Now that’s what I call a holiday haul! And I adore your smores biscuits!
Thank you Sammie 🙂
Looks like a lovely month of food (or at least blogging delicious food – that festive sourdough wreath sounds lovely) and Italian souvenirs. We got truffle paste in that same brand when in Italy earlier this year and have loved adding it to mushroom pizzas. Would love to know what else you use yours for.
We used ours for cheese and cracker enhancement 🙂
The last time we got the truffle paste I added it to pasta 🙂
