Not a Happy Family opening line: There are many expensive houses here in Brecken Hill, an enclave on the edge of Aylesford, in the Hudson Valley.
My blurb:
Catherine is the perfect daughter. A Doctor married to a Dentist who thinks she is going to get it all. Dan thought he had it all, until he made a very bad investment. And then there is Jenna, the child who has not grown up. Their father, Fred Mercer, is doing the one thing he knows best, taking everything away from his children. First he sold the business Dan thought he would take over. And now he is planning on selling the house Catherine wants. Jenna’s allowance is coming to a stop and each one has something to be gained from their death. So when the Mercer’s are murdered, the obvious fact is, one of them did it! But which one?
Not a Happy Family
Every family has its secrets.Fred and Sheila Mercer have worked hard their whole lives. And it’s paid off. They have a beautiful house in the dream neighbourhood and their three adult children have always had everything they could have wished for. The family has had it good. But now, after a family dinner, the Mercers are dead. Murdered. Their children are devastated, aren’t they? Even as they are set to inherit millions. Surely a stranger is responsible and not one of them . . .This family’s secrets are deadly.
My verdict:
I love Shari Lapena’s writing and each one of her books that I have read have been fantastic. This one is not as dark as the others. But it will keep you in suspense, right to the very end. Expect twists and turns and the obvious.

Nice to find an author you like, especially when they keep turning out good work…
Indeed.
This sounds like a great book, Tandy.
