What did November 2024 hold for you? Our month started off with a little bit of waiting, and a lot of anticipation. Finally, on the 13th, our second grandchild made his appearance and our hearts were filled with love. February cannot come soon enough for us to get to hold him. This month, we also joined friends for a quiz evening, and went to other friends for dinner. For those of you who don’t know it, I am a motor sport enthusiast, and November had some good racing.
Recipes from my kitchen in November 2024
I had a good balance of sweet and savoury recipes this month. On the savoury side I made sardine rillettes from Chef Mimi’s blog, and adapted another recipe of hers to make a salted lime spread. Our waterblommetjie season was amazing this year due to the amount of rain we had, so I made kimchi with some. Sweet tahini rolls and a cinnamon mug cake were enjoyed for desserts. I am working on a cake recipe that needs rose syrup as one of the ingredients, so I made a batch. And then used it all up sweetening my hibiscus cold infusion.
One New Thing In My Kitchen
We don’t do a lot of entertaining, but when we do, I like to serve snacks with pre-dinner drinks. I feel it is nice to place a small dish of things in front of each person so they can enjoy whatever snack is on offer, without having to stretch across everyone. I bought these two beautiful bowls to compliment others I have in my collection, and they are perfect!
This is my December submission to the #IMK series hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens.

Great recipes
Thank you!
Huge smile and congratulations on the birth of the eagerly expected babe! February will seem slow in coming . . . 🙂 ! Oh, on the food side, must look up the sardine rillettes . . . and motor racing – methinks I more than understand!!!
Those sardine rillettes were amazing!
That’s so exciting! I have two grand children as well. At 10 and 7 now they almost seem like adults! I miss the baby stage! Happy HOlidays!
The baby stage is wonderful. My hubby is not a baby person so he would enjoy the company of your grandchildren 🙂
Congratulations on new family member! Didn’t know that you enjoy motor sport 🙂 Who is your favourite F1 driver? My husband is a fan too, so I watch some races with him…
I love two new bowls!
My favourite driver at present is Max, but all time favourite would be David Coulthard. I have met Jacques Villeneuve as a friend of ours was the chief engineer for BAR. Does your husband watch bike racing as well?
Congratulations on the new baby! Grandchildren are relly great.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you Mae 🙂
I love the idea of the little bowls – and yours are so cute – I might have to try that at home. Everything looks and sounds delish. Now I’m off to google waterblommetjie 🙂
I shall have to take some photos of the waterblommetjies to show everyone 🙂
Congratulations on your second grandchild, I’m sure you can’t wait to spend time with him.
Thank you! And I really cannot wait to see him in real life 🙂
Congratulations on your second grandchild! I’m sure you are just itching to meet him, how wonderful it is to have an addition in the family. I look back on photos of G sometimes and wonder how he emerged from that early baby self, how time passes! Anyway lots of delicious things in your kitchen this month, tahini scrolls sound divine, must try them next time. And another mug cake! Although I have to put a pause on mug cakes atm, I ate so many during my exam prep time 🙂 Happy Holidays and see you next year!
Wishing you the most amazing Christmas 🙂
Big congrats on the new grandchild. February huh? I would bust waiting! I love your little bowls, and the idea of comfort for your guests. I always find it difficult to enjoy a snack when I have to reach across, so I do without. You selection of sweet and savory dishes looks great, with the Sweet Tahini Rolls catching my eye.
Thank you so much, and yes, I am very eager to have February roll around 🙂
Congratulations on your new grandchild, It’s hard to beat the joy and emotion of holding a grandchild. The bowls are lovely. You always cook some very interesting dishes each month Tandy. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
thank you Pauline 🙂

Thank you Marg 🙂
Tandy, my sincere congratulations on the birth of your newest grandchild. Nothing better!!! I’m intrigued with the look of those tahini rolls, the rose syrup, and mug cake. I love making mug cakes- no leftovers to keep eating. cute bowls too for snacking.
How do the mug cakes work with GF flour?
