Private Rogue opening lines: “Overlord, this is Sabre. We are three clicks from the target.” “Copy that, Sabre. All eyes show a clear run. Maintain your current heading.”
My blurb:
Jack Morgan has been tasked to find a missing woman and her children. Her father has contracted Private to do this, and Jack has taken on full responsibility. His search takes him back to Afghanistan, the place that ended his military career. But it is his knowledge of this country, and as a pilot, that makes him the best candidate for the job. Will Jack succeed on this mission to a country not known for being helpful to outsiders?
Private Rogue
In Afghanistan, an experienced pilot is shot down during a covert mission. The man survives the crash, but is pursued into the mountains by Russian operatives. In New York, a wealthy businessman hires Jack Morgan to track down his daughter, who has gone missing along with her two children. But it is more than a missing persons case, the daughter has been linked to the murder of two men.Jack finds the missing daughter and discovers that she is being pursued, and killed two of her pursers in her escape. Jack takes the woman and her children into his protection, but now he is harbouring a wanted murderer. As Jack discovers more of the backstory of this woman and her children, he realises the only way to clear her name is for him to head to Afghanistan, and face the traumatic memories of his own time there serving as a US Marine many years ago.
My verdict:
Given the current news surrounding Afghanistan, this is a read very close to home for a lot of people. I really enjoyed the survivalist aspect of this book. And the great story line helped a lot to make it a great read.
