Black Sesame Paste

Using my tahini recipe as a base, I made black sesame paste. The colour is certainly unique and may be off putting to some. But I loved the richness of this paste and found the colour appealing.

I mentioned in a book review that I had found one particular quote quite inspiring. “Mountains exist for you to climb, not for you to carry.”  Straight away I had a post in mind. As you are aware, my blog is extremely anecdotal. I share things that happen in my daily life, and observations of my surroundings. A lot of what I write about are my own musings on life. And this quote seemed so apt for someone I once knew. She was married straight out of university to her highschool sweetheart. And not long after their marriage, things started to break down. They were heading in very different directions and eventually, they got divorced. She stayed in the marital home, and he moved on with his life. He got married and had children and built a new life for himself, following his passions. And she has remained stuck.

Today’s inspirational recipe from Lavender and Lime ♥ Black Sesame Paste ♥ #LavenderAndLime Share on X

To this day, she has not moved on. She is still waiting for him to come home. And I wonder about the burden she is carrying, longing for something that will never be. No matter what people tell her, she just cannot accept this. And I wonder how this has affected her entire life since he left? I wish I could tell her that it is time to set down the mountain, and find a new one to climb. I know in my own life I have had bad things happen to me. But learning to let go has been so cathartic. And especially now, when depression is so easy to slide into. I have taught myself to start each day looking for the silver lining. And to be grateful for what is, rather than hold on to what was. Did this quote resonate with you?

  1. Right now stuck in a place wanting something new to happen and it’s a battle to just be at peace and totally grateful for what I have and not wanting more.. 😉

  2. Tandy this looks so interesting. My daughter just said to me yesterday that she wants to make some black sesame ice cream, which she really enjoyed at Byron Bay when she was on holiday recently. I will share this post with her. Great advice in your post about moving on. Some personalities find that easier than others. Have a wonderful festive season.

  3. Using black sesame seeds that way looks very creative. I have only a tiny jar of them, so the recipe isn’t a candidate for me to do. I’m surprised that there are no other ingredients.

I hope you enjoy your parents’ visit. You are lucky that your government has protected you so that you can visit.
