February 2026 Showcasing In My Kitchen

The heat was relentless for most of February 2026 and I did very little in my kitchen. We had one day of rain which was most welcome for my garden, and the water tank. On Valentines Day I prepared a meal I have been planning a long time. I made ravioli stuffed with burrata and served with prawns in a tomato sauce. Dave said it was delicious, and I was super impressed that the meal matched my memory.

Recipes from my blog in February 2026

I made polpette in salsa al limone and wished I had doubled up the recipe. I get home late on a Wednesday night, and this would make for a great meal to just warm up when we are ready to eat. For our end of year aqua aerobics class we had a drink and snack celebration. I made maître d’hotel butter and used that to make devilled eggs. One Saturday morning I baked kladdkaka which you might have seen here last month with the olive leaf gelato. I wanted ginger cookies for a recipe, and made a batch of almond cookies first so I had a recipe to adapt. For breakfast on two mornings I made a berry smoothie from Jan Braai Junior In The Kitchen.

One new thing in my kitchen

In order to make a recipe, I needed a squeezy bottle. I wanted a very cheffy one, but was not prepared to pay R100 for something I might use only once. A friend and I spent the morning together while I was looking. After our morning adventures, I went shopping with her and there was a squeezy bottle at the shop which she gifted to me. She is one of the first blogger friends I made and every time I use the bottle I will think of her.

  1. Never underestimate the joy that having the right tools can bring, no matter how basic! I certainly felt that way when I finally got a proper ladle, with a spout to make pouring easier and less messy. I love your squeeze bottle; may it serve you well for many years to come.

  2. It’s always lovely to make new friends (not easy in our later years) so i was so happy to make blogger friends both real and virtual and also a group of Insta friends (IRL). THanks for joining IMK this month as ever.

  3. do you use the squeezy bottle to squeeze the sauce on top at the end of the okonomiyaki or is there some other tricky moment? anyhow I’ve been in a cookie mood recently too, I think they are kind of the perfect morsel to go with a cup of tea although I’ve put on so much weight in the last year that it’s probably not the perfect morsel.;;;

    1. I used it at the end – but not as successfully as I had hoped! I am also putting on a lot of weight – but I can blame menopause 😉

I would ♥ to hear from you (comments will be visible when I reply)
