These fruit and nut truffles were made all the better as they made use of my own dried apricots. Dave managed to devour them all before I could get enough photographs, they were that good.

I have always kept my handbag in the boot while driving. This was a habit I started when I got my first car. At that stage I was 18 and in my final year of high school. I used to drive through to my boyfriend’s house at night and as it was through some dodgy areas I did not want anything visible in the car. Considering this was before cell phones if anything had happened to me I would not have been able to call anyone. About 6 years later smash and grabs became common practice in Johannesburg. I can clearly recall driving to David’s work and someone throwing a brick at my window. The window did not break and you could see the anger on his face at this. I think he would have been more upset had he realized there was nothing for him to steal.

I also leave my handbag in my car while we are at work. There is no reason for me to bring it into the office. And my car is within my sight all day, and has an alarm so I doubt anyone will try to break into it. But the other morning I was reconciling my account and I realized one of the slips was still in my wallet. So I went out to the car to get it, and did not open the boot fully. It closed on my head and I saw stars! The bruise is amazing and when I went to gym the next day I could feel it when I laid down to do some stretching. I decided to make myself feel better by making a batch of these fruit and nut truffles. They are simple to make, and delicious to eat!

Ouch! That does sound so painful – your poor head!!
These truffles sound delicious, I love that they are made with your own dried apricots – that’s a special touch.
It was bruised for days haha 🙂
Oooo, they sound my cup of tea, Tandy! Thank you, Shall make.(our lads pop in to see us now and then and are always on the lookout for ‘goodies’….(shall have to hide them!) Hugs x
Enjoy!
These look fabulous! Is preserved ginger the same as crystallized ginger?
There is no sugar in the preserved ginger that I use but you can swap them out for a sweeter result 🙂
I never leave my bag in my car, TAndy. I keep my ID and my keys in it and I am paranoid about having either of those things stolen.
I don’t blame you!
Love these.. perfect winter in the pocket snack.. I might double the chocolate.. 😉
That sounds like a good plan!
delicious! been on a major ginger kick recently so these sound like the perfect pick me up snack (:
I found them very moreish 🙂
Your Fruit And Nut Truffles look to be a yummy snack, so who can fault Dave. Ouch! That surely must have hurt the noggin. Now, you have one reason not to keep your bag in your trunk. We don’t keep any valuable in the car when were not in it as here they steal the whole car.
That happens here as well. And once to me which was a pain.
Oh my goodness, I’m sorry about your head! My mom did that once with the trunk of her car, and she has vertigo making it worse! I cannot wait to make these are dark chocolate is my favorite! We are going on a road trip and need some good, snacks in the car. And I love the 70% dark chocolate, my fav!
Enjoy the road trip, and the snacks 🙂
These balls sound delicious and like the perfect healthy snack. I remember hearing that it was a big thing in Joberg and that shocked me. Quite different from here where we have our bags by our side, or even in an open convertible.
The last time I drove in an open convertible in Johannesburg my bag was perfectly safe on the seat. Go figure.
