Morning Shot

I have taken a recipe from a friend, and a recipe from Jamie Oliver and come up with my own version of a morning shot. This can be frozen and an ice cube added to hot water each day. Or, you can keep it in your fridge and add a tablespoon to your morning smoothie.

Scrolling X

I limit my scrolling of X to five minutes in the morning, and afternoon. Using the for you option, I come across all sorts of interesting posts. And whereas I seldom engage, the other day I felt like I needed to. A mother was complaining about a 2 hour wait at the ER with her sick child. Knowing how busy Emergency Rooms are after hours, I was not sure she knew why she had to wait so long. I let her know about the ‘colour scheme’ employed to maybe ease her mind that it was not the hospital’s fault or lack of care, but the fact her child was not perceived to be extremely ill. Working on how our local private hospital works, I can share my experiences with other people. When you walk in the door, you have to check in using a self service terminal.

Emergency rooms

At this point, you let the system know what the medical issue is. The intake nurse looks at the list, and calls the person with the most severe issue first. So, if you have a sore wrist, and I have an open wound, I am likely to be seen ahead of you, even if I get there an hour after you did. Patients are scaled from green to red, with red being the most in need of urgent care. Once assessed, you will be taken through to the emergency ward as soon as a bed is available for you that suits your needs. A simple Thursday night visit meant us waiting for more than half an hour for an orange rated severity, with a bed luckily being available straight away. Of course, the price charged also depends on your colour rating!

  1. I don’t think I could handle these shots first thing in the morning. I don’t like strong tasting drinks pretty much ever 💞. I know about the rating. If you are old your rating is automatically higher. Mom always gets fast treatment and a bed asap when I take her. We end up in the ER due to her 87 going on 2 attitude towards illness and seeing a doctor 😉.

    1. I can also imagine you are more insistent when you take your mom to hospital 😉 Ending up in the ER is not my idea of fun, and something I hope to not repeat too soon – twice is enough for me 🙂

  2. we have similar waiting times in emergency or for an ambulance. But better than no medical care at all like the U.S. I still remember seeing the blood banks where you could sell your blood! Your morning shots look cute!

    1. Luckily for us, we don’t have to wait for an ambulance. It took them 10 minutes to get to us when we needed them to come to the house in August 🙂

  3. I used to drink turmeric shots all the time! Can’t remember why I fell out of the habit… Probably for the mess and hassle of prepping them all the time. Making a big batch and keeping them frozen is so smart.

  4. I can imagine this shot being a real wake‑up call! The ginger and cayenne would definitely get me moving. I also appreciate your note about ER triage — it’s something many people don’t realize, and your explanation makes it clearer.

I would ♥ to hear from you (comments will be visible when I reply)
